Dating of this tag is based on when C. P. Nutting first advertised manufacturing canoes (1895). Prior to that, Nutting seems to have been running a boat livery and acting as agent for other, unknown, builders.
Around 1901, Nutting incorporated, and tags subsequent to this will read "C. P. Nutting & Co."
