Other Names
Dunphy Boat Corporation (circa 1935 -> )
Years in Business
circa 1906 - circa 1962
Dunphy was founded in 1845 by John Dunphy, a Norwegian emigrant. The company was located in Eau Claire, Wisconsin until 1935, when it relocated to Oshkosh, Wisconsin. The company remained in business until the 1960's.
While early boats were traditionally built, the company became most well-known for its molded plywood boats and runabouts.
Canoes were never a major product for the company; they were only offered for a few years. Dunphy canoes were once described to me as "a canoe only a mother can love".
